At Hair Transplant Leeds, eyebrow transplants are performed using FUE extraction combined with DHI implantation, giving the surgeon precise control over the angle and direction of every implanted follicle. Eyebrows are one of the most technically demanding areas for transplantation: each hair grows at a very acute angle to the skin, and the eyebrow shape itself frames the face in ways that any imprecision makes immediately visible.

Eyebrow Transplant Leeds

An eyebrow transplant takes hair follicles from the scalp donor area and implants them into the eyebrow region to restore fullness, define the brow shape, or fill areas where hair no longer grows. The follicles are permanent and continue to grow after transplantation.

Eyebrow transplants address several causes of eyebrow thinning or loss: over-plucking that has caused permanent follicle damage, alopecia areata in the eyebrow zone, thyroid conditions that cause diffuse eyebrow thinning, scarring from injury or surgery, and patients who simply have naturally sparse brows they want to fill permanently.

The distinction between an eyebrow transplant and semi-permanent alternatives such as microblading is important. Microblading adds pigment to the skin and fades over 1 to 3 years, requiring repeated top-ups. An eyebrow transplant adds actual hair follicles that grow permanently. The result is three-dimensional rather than a flat tattoo-style pigment line, and it behaves and moves like natural eyebrow hair.

Eyebrow Transplant vs Microblading

Microblading is appropriate for patients who want shape enhancement or pigmentation correction without committing to a surgical procedure, or who have some natural eyebrow hair they want to supplement.

An eyebrow transplant is appropriate for patients with significant thinning or complete absence of eyebrow hair who want a permanent result. Because the transplanted follicles grow and move naturally, the result integrates with the patient’s facial expressions in a way that tattooed pigment cannot.

The trade-off is that transplanted eyebrow hair continues to grow and requires regular trimming, unlike the patient’s original eyebrow hair which grows to a defined length and then sheds. This is a minor ongoing commitment that the majority of patients adapt to quickly.

For patients considering both eyebrow work and scalp restoration such as a hairline hair transplant, the donor budget across both areas is planned together at consultation.

How an Eyebrow Transplant Works

Design and Planning

The eyebrow shape is agreed with the patient before any surgery. The design takes into account the patient’s existing brow remnants, facial structure, and desired outcome. The implantation plan maps the angle and direction for each follicle placement zone within the brow.

Extraction

Hair follicles are extracted from the scalp donor area using the FUE punch technique. Single-hair grafts are used almost exclusively for eyebrow work, as fine single follicles most closely match the calibre and growth pattern of natural eyebrow hair.

Implantation

DHI implantation using a Choi pen is the standard approach for eyebrow work at our Leeds clinic. The pen allows the surgeon to implant each follicle at an extremely acute angle (as low as 10 to 15 degrees to the skin surface), matching the near-flat growth direction of natural eyebrow hair. This acute angle is critical: follicles placed at a steeper angle produce a result that stands away from the brow rather than lying flat.

A full eyebrow transplant session typically requires 200 to 400 grafts per brow, and takes 3 to 5 hours.

Eyebrow Transplant Cost in Leeds

Eyebrow transplant costs at our Leeds clinic start from £3,500 for one brow and from £4,500 for both brows. The exact cost depends on the extent of thinning and the number of grafts required. Finance plans are available at 0% APR. Full details on our hair transplant cost page.

Eyebrow Transplant Recovery

The brow area will be slightly swollen and red. Small crusts form at each implantation site. Keep the brows dry and do not apply any makeup or product to the area. Sleep elevated to reduce swelling. Avoid bending forward or any activity that brings blood pressure to the head.

Crusting resolves and the brows return to a near-normal appearance by day 10 to 14, other than the temporary absence of the transplanted hairs. Shock loss occurs between weeks 2 and 6: the implanted hairs shed. The follicles remain below the skin and will produce new growth. You may wear glasses and resume most normal activities.

New brow hair begins to emerge around months 3 to 4. The hairs grow faster initially than natural eyebrow hair and will require regular trimming. The final shape and density become apparent between months 6 and 9. During this phase the brows can be groomed and, if desired, pencilled or tinted normally.

Full eyebrow transplant results are visible by month 12. The hair calibre, density, and direction of growth are at their final state. At the 12-month follow-up your surgeon will review the result and discuss whether any touch-up grafts are beneficial.

FAQs

Yes, when the angle and direction of each graft is correctly matched to the natural growth direction of that zone of the brow. The critical technical requirement is implanting at a very acute angle (10 to 15 degrees) so the hairs lie flat against the skin. Follicles placed at too steep an angle stand away from the brow and are immediately visible as transplanted.

Yes. Transplanted scalp hair grows at the rate of scalp hair, which is faster than natural eyebrow hair. Most patients trim their brows once every 2 to 4 weeks. This is a minor adaptation that the vast majority of patients find straightforward after the first few months.

In some cases, yes. If follicles have been permanently damaged by repeated plucking, they will not regrow on their own and a transplant is the only way to restore hair in those areas. If follicles are still viable but dormant, a transplant can add density. The extent of permanent follicle loss is assessed at consultation.

A typical eyebrow transplant uses 200 to 400 single-hair grafts per brow. The exact count depends on the existing density and the desired final shape. A full bilateral procedure (both brows) uses 400 to 800 grafts in total, well within the capacity of a single donor session.

Yes. The transplanted follicles are DHT-resistant and will continue to grow permanently. Unlike microblading, which fades over 1 to 3 years and requires regular top-ups, an eyebrow transplant is a one-time procedure for most patients.

Possibly, depending on the activity of the condition. Active alopecia areata can affect transplanted follicles in the same way it affects native ones. Surgery is generally planned once the condition has been stable for at least 12 months. This is discussed and assessed at your consultation.

It was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Naturally, I was unsure on which organisation to choose for the procedure, but HSHTC came across as professional and caring, as well as having a wide range of availability. There are negative reviews on all businesses, and this drives customers like myself away. However, something told me this would likely be someone with unrealistic expectations, or not reading into the procedure as a whole. I chose to ignore the negatives and read the positives. Sara the coordinator was absolutely amazing! She outlined everything and made it clear of what is expected and what is not. After a great consultation, I was passed to the next stage of meeting surgeon Dr Ditta. He presented extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he does, so I decided to go ahead with the procedure. The surgery day was expected to be a long, but rewarding day. It started with having to shave my head (mandatory requirement for this procedure). I’d say to anyone the thought is worser than the event, and to just do it for the positives that will follow. Dr Ditta and his team were extremely caring and sensitive, especially with briefing before any painful situations pre anaesthetic. After that, I was allowed to top up when requested and leave them to do what they do best. The day as a whole was enjoyable and interesting to speak to the team to learn more about the procedure and get to know them. Lunch was provided (yay). It was lovely of them to offer, and you definitely need to eat mid procedure to keep energy levels. At the end of the day, I was given clear instruction of how to have the best success rate. It was through a video and in person. If you have questions, ask as it’s what the team is there for. The first few days of recovery can be quite awkward and uncomfortable, but I’d recommend booking 2 weeks off work to fully recover and let the grafts set. Once you get use to the sleeping situation, it’s easy and a lovely break from reality (put pillows below your knees and stack below head for pure comfort!). The aftercare products was extremely useful and easy to use. The grafts will fall out after a few weeks, it’s expected and you’re told this plenty of times!! Having a healthy lifestyle makes your hair grow quicker and thicker, so swap your diet to good healthy hair foods. When your transplanted hair grows back, it’s an amazing feeling, but only the beginning. As the months pass by, you’ll notice a massive improvement. During this process, you’ll have regular aftercare and the chance to raise any concerns. I personally didn’t have any issues and was just grateful to still be in contact and told everything is going as it should. I’m 6 months post surgery and I’m seeing the benefits hugely, and it’s not even reached maximum results yet, as this is one year. Thanks for an amazing service!

Having given some time and thought about having a Hair Transplant, I contacted Harley street hair transplant clinics. The consultant (Sara) explained everything regarding the procedure with Dr.Ditta and the technicians. From the beginning, Dr.Ditta explained the days events and how the procedures would be done beginning with taking a photo of my head and showing me where the grafts would be taken from and where they would be placed. The procedures would be done and completed in two parts, with a lunch break in between. Once completed, Dr.Ditta went through the aftercare, explaining what to do each day for 10 days. I was given capsules, shampoo, sponge, neck pillow for sleeping with and information regarding how to look after my hair. Dr. Ditta and his team were welcoming and friendly ensuring I was looked after throughout both parts of the procedure. Sara maintained regular contact to make sure recovery was going well. The results were great, patience is needed as the grafts start to grow, and then you can see the results. Extremely happy with everything, from start to finish.

Would highly recommend! Everything went very smoothly, communication was excellent throughout. I travelled from Edinburgh to Manchester for the procedure and all travel and accommodation costs were covered. Dr Ditta explained everything clearly and delivered clear and detailed post-op instructions. I was delighted with the whole experience and results so far are very promising!

Overall, my experience at the clinic was positive. Dr. Ditta was exceptional — he made me feel comfortable and at ease throughout the procedure, and his professionalism was truly reassuring. However, I was disappointed with one member of the team who, in my opinion, did not fully follow health and safety protocols. She had her hair down without a surgical cap and was using her phone while wearing gloves, then proceeded to touch my hair without changing them. This raised concerns about hygiene and cross-contamination. Her manner was also not very pleasant, which made the experience less comfortable. Although I was initially worried about the risk of infection, I felt more at ease by the end of my visit. I hope the management reviews this matter to ensure that strict hygiene and professional standards are consistently maintained. Aside from this, I was very satisfied with Dr. Ditta’s care and look forward to seeing my results.

Dear Team. Following my hair transplant last Saturday I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the team, for making my journey as pleasant as possible. From the first consultation, to having my hotel booked, to the procedure itself, I couldn’t have been more impressed. Finally a big thank you to Doctor Ditta and the team, who were so kind when I felt unwell, making me drinking chocolate and reassuring me throughout the process. Add to this, their expertise and professionalism, what more can one ask for? I look forward to the final part of my hair transplant next year. Once again a big thanks to you all. Kind regards Keith Yates

Before the procedure I had online and face to face consultations with no obligations. These gave me all the information I needed and really put me at ease and gave me the confidence to proceed. Everyone was really knowledgeable and friendly and clearly very experienced. Booking the procedure was quick and easy and I got a date that suited me. The procedure itself went really smoothly I was able to put headphones in and listen to podcasts and was very comfortable. Afterwards I was given really detailed notes on what to do and what would happen and everything went exactly as planned. It was so reassuring knowing that advice was only a text message away and responses were always immediate. I'm two weeks post procedure now and everything has gone back to normal and the recovery is going just as planned. I'm so glad I did this and chose Harley Street Hair Transplant!

Great clinic with friendly and experienced team. I wanted my surgery done in the UK and found the clinic on Google. Process started with virtual consultations with patient advisor and then with the surgeon. FULL costs were given up front, with good finance options available. On the day I designed a new hairline with the surgeon and ended up getting about 1600 grafts iirc, which was good value for money. Clear pre- and post-op instructions given and recovery has gone as expected. Now waiting patiently for regrowth :) - Grant
